From productivity tool burnout to discovering the magic of real human accountability—and building an AI to scale it.

Why Did You Build Habit Coach AI?

I've tried every productivity tool. Every single one.

Habit trackers. Fancy journals. Notion templates. Apps with streaks and gamification. Apps with reminders and notifications. Apps that lock you out of other apps.

They all lacked the one thing that actually works: real accountability.

The Problem with Apps

Most productivity tools treat habit-building like data entry. Check a box. Update a counter. Watch your streak grow.

But here's the thing: when life gets messy, boxes don't care.

They don't notice when you're struggling. They don't ask why you skipped three days in a row. They don't celebrate when you finally get back on track.

They're just... there. Waiting. Silently judging.

The Experiment That Changed Everything

After hundreds of failed experiments, I tried something crazy: I hired a human coach.

Well, technically I hired a random Ukrainian guy on Upwork to call me every night at 10pm and read through a Google Form. Worst case, I figured I'd practice my Ukrainian. Best case? I had no idea.

What happened next shocked me.

He didn't give me advice. He didn't create some sophisticated system. He just called and asked about my day.

But that simple phone call? That was the missing piece.

I'd be mid-episode of some show, and as soon as commercials hit, I'd knock out pushups or throw on a quick meditation—just because I knew he'd ask.

Not willpower. Not motivation. Just a simple scheduled commitment that made showing up inevitable.

That year, I hit personal bests in the gym. Built deeper friendships. Got promoted at work. I wasn't struggling anymore. I was firing on all cylinders.

Why It Took Until 2022

Human accountability works. The data is clear. The experience is transformative.

But it's expensive. And it doesn't scale.

A good coach costs $100-300 per session. Even budget options on Upwork add up. Most people can't afford thousands per year for daily check-ins.

Then ChatGPT changed everything.

For the first time in history, computers could actually talk to you. Not just send notifications. Real conversations.

Suddenly, the magic of human connection—the thing that made my Ukrainian coach so effective—could be recreated by software.

Building an Affordable, Always-Available Coach

That's why I built Habit Coach AI.

Not to replace human coaches entirely. But to make that transformative accountability experience accessible to everyone.

An AI coach that:

  • Calls and texts you daily (just like my Ukrainian guy did)
  • Remembers your struggles and wins
  • Celebrates your progress
  • Asks the hard questions when you fall off track
  • Never judges, never gives up on you

All for less than the cost of a weekly coffee.

The Vision

We're not trying to be another productivity app. We're building a relationship.

A coach. A mirror. A friend who won't let you coast.

Someone (something?) that helps you turn vague goals into small, daily steps—and actually keeps you on track. With phone calls. With texts. Every. Single. Day.

Fall off the horse? It helps you understand why and guides you back on. Crushing your goals? It celebrates like a human would.

Because that's what works. Not willpower. Not gamification. Connection and accountability.

And now, for the first time, it's affordable enough for everyone.
